Pastor Troy Miller serves as Heartland’s lead interim pastor. Troy is originally from Hoisington, KS. He and his wife Carrie have been married for 29 years and are the proud parents of two grown children and grandparents to two adorable grandbabies. In his spare time Troy stays busy running his business Miller Lawns.
Troy’s favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Pastor Steve Hopkins and his family moved to the Great Bend area in 2012. In addition to serving as one of our interim pastors and leading our Youth Group, Steve is the Director of Barton County Core Life/Expansion Director with Youth Core Ministries, working with hundreds of teens in several cities in central Kansas. Steve and Jennifer have four children and stay busy following them and having fun on their farm. Steve grew up in Udall and Jennifer grew up in Mulvane. They have been married for 23 years and have been involved in church ministry for almost all of those 23 years.
Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose,” is Steve’s favorite Bible verse.
Candy Murphy loves being around kids of all ages. As Children’s Ministries Director, she can be found loving on the babies in the nursery, leading kids in Children’s Church or hanging out with the teens in Youth Group. Candy and her husband Eric are originally from Illinois and have three kids who keep them very busy.
Candy’s favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Administrative Assistant Lori Jacobs loves serving at Heartland where she considers her position not as a job but as a ministry from God. She loves getting to visit and pray with the people who come through the church doors for random reasons. Both she and her husband Paul have lived in Great Bend their entire lives and love it here. They are very proud of their four grown sons and are happy that they all live fairly close. Lori enjoys spoiling the kids at church and always looks forward to their hugs.
Her favorite Bible passage is Philippians 4:4-7, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Heartland’s Trustees are: Mark Ball, Dave Brenner, Renee Buntain, Ryan Gardner, Eric Murphy, Tim Nollette (Chairman), and Steve Wittig.
