Missions

Missions

Heartland is a Christ-centered church bringing people to Jesus and sharing His love in a family atmosphere. This atmosphere doesn’t just exist in a building, but rather in His people that goes wherever they go. God has given each of us a mission field, whether it’s our family, our neighborhood, our community, or a country on the other side of the planet.

We want to encourage those who serve in every aspect and share God’s love and Word, again, whether it’s our family, our neighborhood, our community, or a country on the other side of the planet.

We are blessed that we are able to help support these missionaries in their callings to serve: J & M, Wycliffe Bible Translators; Buzz & Clifann Birney, Live Like Jesus Today; Roland & Deanna Broeder, InFaith; Carin Cochran, Christian Challenge at FHSU; Adam & Misha Hutchison, Student Mobilization in the Philippines; Drew & Torie Peters, Student Mobilization at KU; Joe & Hillary Wilson, Ethnos 360; and Nannette Zander, House of Hope Haiti.

We also partner with the Barton County Food Bank, CarePortal, and the Central Kansas Dream Center and help through volunteers and other assistance as we are able.

J & M

Wycliffe Bible Translators

J & M serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Wycliffe believes that the Bible is God’s Word to us — something that everyone should be able to understand in a language and format that clearly speaks to their hearts. But at least 2,000 languages around the world are still waiting for a translation project to start.

When people finally get Scripture in their own language, lives often change in amazing ways. People are transformed as they discover Jesus Christ and enter into a right relationship with God.

That’s why Wycliffe Bible Translators exists — to help the women, men and children in these remaining languages get the Bible for themselves. And we won’t stop until all people have God’s Word in a language they understand.

Buzz & Clifann Birney

LLJT Ministries

Before Buzz and Clifann ever met, God was moving mightily in their individual lives. When He brought them together from different parts of the world (Clifann from Trinidad in the West Indies and Buzz from the great state of Kansas), different cultures, different upbringings and different colors, they knew it was of God’s mighty hand. They knew God would use them to show that He is the God of all nations, all tongues, all tribes and all colors.

Buzz and Clifann are truly passionate about their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for He has done much in their lives. Together they share their testimonies and their passion for missions at home, in our nation, and around the world. Missions is their call and the heart of God!

InFaith

InFaith is moved by the call to reach locally right here in the United States. We want to be a part of God’s change in others even as God is constantly changing us. We try to find the dark places in our local communities and see where Jesus needs to shine by calling people to conversion and discipling them in their walk of faith. We visit the prisoner and the widow. We clothe the naked and feed the hungry. We participate in God’s work in our local communities to bring about God’s vision for “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

We believe that Jesus changes everything He touches. And we believe that He uses our hands to bring about that change. Our country is full of people who are struggling with physical needs, who are lonely and confused and searching—who need hope. And we have the greatest hope of all—Jesus.

Carin Cochran

Christian Challenge – Fort Hays State University

Christian Challenge exists for the glory of God. We are a group who seeks and welcomes students and gives them the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as Lord, so that they would love God, love others, and serve the world. We are a ministry on the campus of Fort Hays State University that is committed to glorifying God and making disciples of Jesus Christ. The Challenge community is one that welcomes people from all backgrounds and desires to see them transformed and grow into mature followers of Jesus Christ.

Carin is the Director and founder of Christian Challenge at FHSU. She moved to Hays in 1994 from Oklahoma after completing her Masters Degree and spending two years on Staff with a collegiate ministry there. She loves Jesus and wants students to learn to love Him and His Word. She has a staff of four young adults who assist running Christian Challenge.

Student Mobilization – Philippines

Student Mobilization is a non-profit, college campus organization that exists to build spiritual leaders for Christ from the college campuses of the world. Our passion is to build up student laborers into future leaders. The students of today will be tomorrow’s business men and women, church leaders, missionaries, educators, community leaders and parents. Our desire is to equip them to live for Christ wherever they may go.

Serving in Cebu City, Philippines, we work with eight other missionaries on our team, ministering to the college students in the city. We facilitate Bible Studies with the students, and mentor and guide them. Once a month we meet with college students from around Cebu and talk about how to grow in their faith in college. Over Spring Break we encourage the students to participate with us in Kaleo – an experience that provides college students with an exciting opportunity for developing in their faith, leadership and character. Additionally, once a year we organize SMC – StuMo Conference, for college students. Whether they are seeking God for the first time or looking to be challenged to take the next step in your faith, StuMo Conference is for them.

  • As an interdenominational ministry, our desire is to help students experience God in a genuine way and to grow in that relationship during this season of life and beyond.
  • We are defined by our character. Our desire is to help shape and develop the character of students in a way that will help serve and help influence them the rest of their lives.
  • Through a number of avenues, we seek to help build leaders that will have a positive impact on their families, communities, country and the world.

Student Mobilization – University of Kansas

Student Mobilization is a non-profit, college campus organization that exists to build spiritual leaders for Christ from the college campuses of the world. Our passion is to build up student laborers into future leaders. The students of today will be tomorrow’s business men and women, church leaders, missionaries, educators, community leaders and parents. Our desire is to equip them to live for Christ wherever they may go.

We serve the students at the University of Kansas in Lawrence with a team of six other young adults who work with us to invest in the lives of the students and help them grow in their knowledge of and relationship with God.

Student Mobilization targets key campuses in the Central United States to place enthusiastic, biblically solid staff in order to engage collegians at a spiritual level. StuMo uses events such as the annual Kaleo Summer Project and the StuMo Conference to love and challenge students to become laborers for Christ. StuMo staff seek to build relationships with, pray for and minister to key students on campus with the purpose of helping these students develop their own relationship with Christ and personal ministry to other students. This is a challenging, yet exciting activity, as the Lord changes the lives of many. StuMo also seeks to bless students with key information on the status of world evangelization. Students are excited to learn about this unfinished task and how they can personally pray and work to accomplish the Great Commission.

  • As an interdenominational ministry, our desire is to help students experience God in a genuine way and to grow in that relationship during this season of life and beyond.

Ethnos360

Ethnos360’s core beliefs and values are an integral part of church planting among unreached tribal people. Missionaries serving in the USA play vital roles on the church planting team such as training, accounting for and transferring gifts, recruiting missionaries and informing and involving churches and individuals.

We minister among unreached people groups: In more than 6,000 people groups around the world, there is no church, nor is there any work being done to establish a church. These are the people among whom Ethnos360 works.

We work in the culture and language of the people: These people groups’ cultures and languages have isolated them from the gospel. Missionaries learn their culture and language in order to understand and to be understood within the context of that culture, to clearly present the gospel and to effectively plant a church.

We translate the Scripture: For believers to grow to maturity, they must have God’s Word to study. Translating the Scriptures into the people group’s heart language is essential, as are literacy classes in situations where learning to read has not been an option for the people. Investment is made in Scripture translation along with foundational chronological teaching.

We present foundational Bible teaching: Unreached people groups have no concept of the God of the Bible. This means that Bible teaching must start at the same place God began — at the beginning. Chronological Bible teaching presents a foundation for understanding God’s character and the plan of redemption.

We establish mature churches: Evangelism is but the beginning. Ethnos360 and the Global Partner network are committed to seeing mature churches established. In this context of a mature church, we are speaking of a church where the disciples are becoming the disciplers, where indigenous church leadership is solidly in place and where the church is reproducing itself.
